Adfin’s Major Funding Boost
In a significant move for the fintech industry, Adfin has successfully secured $18 million in Series A funding, led by Index Ventures. This brings the startup’s total funding to over $30 million in less than two years, as it aims to revolutionize the way small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) manage their payments.
Addressing Delayed Payments
Founded in 2024 by payments experts Tom Pope and Ciprian Diaconasu, Adfin is tackling a pressing issue in the UK, where nearly 63% of SME invoices are paid late. This delay creates significant pressure on cash flow, limiting growth opportunities for these businesses. With its automated finance platform, Adfin combines proprietary payment infrastructure with intelligent workflow automation, significantly improving the payment process for users.
“Adfin is building the agentic finance platform for money movement,” said Pope. “We’re automating the workflows finance teams use to get paid, manage their money, and, in time, much more.” Currently, businesses utilizing Adfin’s platform report only 9% of invoices being paid late, a stark contrast to the national average.
Future Plans and Expansion
With this fresh capital, Adfin plans to expand its offerings beyond invoice collection to provide comprehensive cash flow management solutions. The company is also looking to increase its workforce, particularly in engineering and sales, while preparing for international expansion. This strategic growth positions Adfin to become a leading financial operations platform for businesses beyond the UK.
“We see that same pattern in Tom and Ciprian. Their results speak for themselves,” remarked Julia André, partner at Index Ventures, highlighting the firm’s confidence in the founders’ vision and execution.
As Adfin continues to grow, it joins a crowded fintech market, competing with players like GoCardless and Billtrust. However, its unique combination of payment infrastructure and automated workflows sets it apart, allowing for greater control and visibility in financial operations.
