CodeWords Raises $9M in Seed Funding to Transform Workflow Automation
London-based CodeWords, an innovative startup dedicated to making AI accessible for non-coders, has successfully raised $9 million in a seed funding round. This investment was led by Visionaries, with additional participation from firstminute capital, Sequel, and Illusian.
Backing from Industry Leaders
The funding round also saw contributions from notable angel investors and advisors, including Andrey Khusid, CEO of Miro; Mati Staniszewski, CEO of ElevenLabs; and Robert Gentz, CEO of Zalando. These industry leaders, along with executives from OpenAI and Mistral, reinforce the confidence in CodeWords’ vision.
Meet Cody: The AI Agent
Founded in 2023 by Osman Ramadan and Aymeric Zhuo, both of whom have extensive experience at tech giants like Microsoft and Meta, CodeWords is on a mission to democratize AI. Their flagship product, Cody, functions as an AI agent capable of managing repetitive business workflows without requiring any coding skills from users.
“The best operators don’t wait to be asked. We built Cody on the same principle — an agent that learns about your business, sees what needs doing, and delivers outcomes,” says Zhuo. This capability has allowed Cody to handle an impressive 500,000 workflows monthly, aiding teams from various sectors.
Innovative Features and Future Plans
Along with the recent funding, CodeWords is set to launch three exciting features: contextual memory, WhatsApp support, and various Cody modes that enhance task management. Unlike existing tools like Zapier that require users to design their workflow logic, Cody simplifies the process. Users merely describe their needs, and Cody autonomously manages deployment and maintenance.
Robert Jäckle, a partner at Visionaries, expressed enthusiasm for the team’s rapid progress: “Most automation tools promise simplicity, but still require technical thinking underneath. CodeWords is one of the first products we’ve seen where that truly disappears.”
This funding will significantly bolster CodeWords’ marketing and engineering capabilities, paving the way for broader adoption and innovation in the realm of AI-driven automation.
