Grand Games Raises $70 Million to Expand Hybrid Casual Gaming
Grand Games, a Turkish mobile gaming startup, has successfully raised $70 million in a Series B funding round led by Balderton Capital. This latest investment brings the company’s total funding to an impressive $103 million, just two years after its inception.
Rapid Growth and Market Success
Founded in 2024 by Batuhan Celebi, Mehmet Calim, and Mustafa Fırtına, Grand Games has quickly established itself in the competitive mobile gaming market. The company has seen a remarkable 5x year-over-year revenue growth and has surpassed 50 million downloads across more than 200 countries. Currently, it operates six live games, including Magic Sort and Block Out, which recently held the top two spots on the US iOS most downloaded games chart.
Innovative Business Model
One of the standout features of Grand Games is its unique operating model. Instead of a centralized structure, the company comprises five autonomous studios that empower teams to make independent development decisions. This ownership-driven approach is designed to enhance production speed and give creators greater control over their projects.
“We started Grand to build the kind of company we believed could unlock the full potential of great talent,” said Çelebi. “Turkey has produced some of the best mobile gaming talent in the world, and we wanted to create an environment where that talent has real ownership over decisions, product direction, and outcomes.”
Looking Forward
With the latest infusion of capital, Grand Games aims to expand its marketing efforts, scale existing titles, and support a robust pipeline of upcoming releases. The company is well-positioned to redefine entertainment in the gaming sector, leveraging its hybrid casual gaming strategy to achieve global visibility.
“Having invested in the mobile gaming space for many years, we know what exceptional teams look like in this category, and Grand is unquestionably one,” stated Rana Yared, partner at Balderton. “Our conviction in what Batu, Mehmet, Mustafa, and the team are building is stronger than ever.”
