SAN FRANCISCO — Hardline secured $2 million in pre-seed funding led by venture firm Mucker Capital, the startup announced on Tuesday. The technology firm was founded in 2025 by entrepreneurs Alena Tuttle and Karly Heffernan to address persistent communication failures in the global construction industry by converting verbal conversations into structured project records for commercial contractors and builders.
The construction sector incurs financial losses amounting to tens of billions of dollars annually due to incomplete documentation and ineffective communication between field job sites and corporate office systems, according to industry reports. Karly Heffernan, a recognized industry figure and Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, said that supervisors and project managers spend half their working day documenting work after the fact instead of overseeing active builds on site.
The platform captures audio from jobsite phone calls and onsite discussions, automatically transforming the spoken words into structured documentation including requests for information, punch lists, and daily logs. Hardline integrates directly with existing construction software such as Procore, Autodesk, and Hilti’s Fieldwire, while supporting 2 languages, including English and Spanish, for bilingual field teams operating on location daily.
Hardline faces direct commercial competition from established market rivals like OpenSpace and Buildots, but the company aims to carve a distinct operational niche by focusing on voice data as an overlooked source of project intelligence. The startup is already active across 10 U.S. states and 2 countries, providing services to commercial contractors and specialty trades.
With the newly acquired $2 million in venture capital, Hardline plans to deepen its software integrations, accelerate product development, and expand its market reach throughout the remainder of 2025. Alena Tuttle and Karly Heffernan did not disclose the equity stake sold to Mucker Capital or the specific valuation of the pre-seed round in their public statement.
