NEW YORK — Csquare filed confidential paperwork for an initial public offering in the United States, operating facilities that span millions of square feet, according to regulatory filings. The data centre operator competes directly with established firms in the digital infrastructure sector across multiple regions. Financial regulators will review the draft registration statement over the coming weeks as part of the standard review process.

Asset manager Brookfield backs the enterprise, having previously injected substantial funds into the business to accelerate facility construction schedules. Csquare builds large-scale concrete halls that house heavy computing hardware required by software developers and cloud providers. Corporate tenants sign multi-year leases to place rows of servers inside these secure buildings, per company disclosures reviewed by market participants.

Clients pay for physical space, backup power, and cooling by the kilowatt-hour inside the secure facilities operated by the firm. Renters rely on these specialized buildings to keep complex web applications running without a single second of interruption. Equinix and Digital Realty operate rival locations across North America, Europe, and Asia to serve similar enterprise technology buyers.

Constructing these server farms requires Csquare to make massive upfront capital outlays for real estate acquisitions and heavy electrical gear. Steel frames, backup diesel generators, transformers, and liquid cooling systems must be ordered months before a building finally opens its doors to customers. Operators routinely borrow heavy sums from commercial syndicates or issue corporate bonds to pay construction crews long before the first server rack gets plugged into the wall.

Because the initial paperwork was submitted under regulatory rules allowing confidential reviews, Csquare has not released the target share price or the exact number of shares on offer to the public. Financial regulators will review the draft registration statement over the coming weeks, the company said in a statement. The company has not disclosed when the public prospectus will be published or which stock exchange will list the shares.
