### Tackling Cloud Inefficiencies with AI
In an era where businesses lose approximately €512 billion annually due to cloud inefficiencies, misconfigurations, and increasing complexity in cloud infrastructure, startup Yasu is stepping in with a pioneering solution. The company has engineered the world’s first AI Cloud Engineer, designed to enhance cost visibility during the early stages of development. This proactive approach aims to mitigate financial waste before it escalates to production—a stage where remediation can cost up to ten times more. Recently, Yasu successfully completed a pre-seed funding round, raising €850,000, with support from prominent investors including Akka, Empower Impact, and Antler. This funding will enable Yasu to broaden its reach in European markets and enhance its AI-driven cloud optimization technology.
### Integration into Development Workflows
Founded in 2025 by Vikram Das and John in ‘t Hout, Yasu seeks to embed its AI Cloud Engineer into the daily operations of development teams. The founders aim to liberate companies from traditional cloud inefficiencies, allowing engineers to redirect their focus toward innovation rather than troubleshooting. Das elaborated on the existing challenges, noting that current tools often address problems only after they manifest. According to him, cloud teams frequently find themselves spending excessive time resolving issues related to idle resources and misconfigured instances, detracting from their primary development objectives. Yasu is designed to be an embedded solution that actively prevents waste by integrating seamlessly into development workflows.
### Autonomous Optimization Benefits
The core of Yasu’s technology involves the deployment of autonomous AI agents within widely used developer tools such as Slack and GitHub. This integration empowers teams to identify and rectify costly inefficiencies during the development and testing phases, significantly ahead of production timelines. Unlike competitors such as CloudZero and Flexera, Yasu’s system continuously optimizes resources, fine-tunes configurations, and minimizes cloud consumption without requiring manual effort. This innovative approach has resulted in an average cost reduction of 35% for clients, alongside a measurable decrease in carbon emissions.
### Commitment to Diversity and Future Plans
In discussing the company’s commitment to diversity, Das mentioned that while Yasu is still in its early stages with a compact team, it prides itself on its diverse workforce, which includes members from the Netherlands, India, and Spain. Looking ahead, Yasu plans to utilize the new funding to accelerate its expansion throughout Europe and enhance the autonomous capabilities of its AI platform. The goal is to extend support beyond AWS and Google Cloud to additional platforms such as Azure and Snowflake, while also addressing security and compliance issues to provide a comprehensive cloud governance solution. Das concluded that the immediate focus will be on expanding throughout Europe and enhancing AI capabilities for cost optimization. By 2027-2028, Yasu plans to extend its AI Cloud Engineer’s functionalities to include security management and compliance automation. The ambitious vision for 2030 aims to enable 100,000 AI Cloud Engineers globally, targeting the elimination of €1 billion in cloud inefficiencies and promoting a more sustainable cloud infrastructure.
