Bunch Secures $35 Million in Series B Funding
Berlin-based Bunch has successfully raised $35 million in a Series B funding round aimed at revolutionizing private market operations across Europe. The round was led by Portage, with participation from Illuminate Financial and existing investors including Motive Partners, Cherry Ventures, and Fintech Collective. With this latest funding, Bunch’s total financing exceeds $58 million.
A Shift from Outdated Systems
Founded in 2021 by Levent Altunel and Enrico Ohnemüller, Bunch aims to automate and streamline the private equity and venture capital fund management processes that have long relied on fragmented software and manual reporting. The company has reported a remarkable growth in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) of 300% in 2025, along with a 156% net revenue retention rate, indicating a strong demand for its services.
Meeting the Unique Needs of European Markets
Bunch currently supports over 150 fund managers and 12,000 Limited Partners (LPs) across Europe, including notable clients like Passion Capital and Hummingbird VC. Unlike U.S.-based competitors such as Carta and Juniper Square, which focus primarily on the American market, Bunch is specifically designed to address the regulatory complexities and cross-border fund structures prevalent in Europe. This is a gap that U.S. incumbents have yet to fill effectively.
Future Plans and Market Potential
The newly acquired capital will facilitate Bunch’s expansion in Germany, the UK, and Luxembourg, along with enhancements in automation related to compliance, reporting, and capital call workflows. Ohnemüller stated, “Private markets are growing rapidly, but the infrastructure behind them still relies on outdated systems. We built Bunch to help fund managers scale across Europe with a single platform combining specialist expertise, software, and AI-native systems.”
The funding from Portage highlights the growing necessity for robust financial infrastructure as private markets continue to expand. Hélène Falchier, a Partner at Portage, emphasized the unique challenges faced by European markets, stating, “Bunch has built exactly what is necessary for this environment.”
