Thoma Bravo buys WWEX to merge with Auctane

Thoma Bravo to combine WWEX Group with Auctane

Thoma Bravo has agreed to acquire WWEX Group, a shipping and logistics technology provider with roughly $5 billion in annual revenue, and merge it with portfolio company Auctane. The deal is aimed at creating an AI-powered, end-to-end logistics platform designed to serve high-growth e-commerce businesses and scale-ups.

Building a larger shipping software stack

The combined business is expected to support more than 70 million shipments, positioning the platform as a major player in shipping execution and carrier services across small and mid-sized merchants as well as larger online sellers. By bringing together WWEX Group and Auctane, Thoma Bravo is betting that merchants want a more unified technology stack that can manage rates, labels, tracking, returns, and cross-carrier optimization in one place.

AI as a differentiator in logistics

Executives and investors across the logistics software market have increasingly highlighted AI as a way to improve delivery performance and reduce shipping costs through smarter carrier selection, automation of customer communications, and predictive insights on delays and demand. The new combined entity will focus on using AI to streamline shipping workflows and provide data-driven decision tools for merchants operating at scale.

What it means for e-commerce scale-ups

For fast-growing sellers, shipping complexity often rises quickly as order volumes expand, sales channels multiply, and customer expectations tighten. Thoma Bravo said the merger is intended to deliver a more comprehensive, enterprise-grade shipping platform that remains accessible to e-commerce scale-ups seeking to professionalize logistics without building custom systems.
