Obello Secures $8.5 Million Seed Funding to Enhance Creative Tools

The design platform Obello raises $8.5 million to expand its offerings for brands, focusing on high-speed, quality content creation and integrations.

Obello’s Growth Journey
Obello, a design platform tailored for brands seeking efficient content creation, has successfully raised $8.5 million in seed funding. This funding round was spearheaded by Obvious Ventures, with additional participation from Baukunst, AVV, and Preview Ventures, bringing the total financing secured by the company to $9.5 million. The newly acquired funds will play a pivotal role in Obello’s next phase of development, allowing the company to refine its image and video generation capabilities, enhance integrations with both design and marketing platforms, and expand its reach among mid-market and enterprise brands.

Founders with a Vision
Founded by experienced creators Ben Pham and Ollie Ralph, who previously established the renowned brand agency Character—acquired by Dentsu—Obello is rooted in a deep understanding of brand-building. Their careers have been marked by the development of iconic identities for prominent companies including Apple, DoorDash, Nike, Netflix, and Instagram. Having worked within high-stakes design environments, Pham and Ralph identified a significant challenge: the overwhelming demand for content across various platforms outpaces the capabilities of human teams. This demand leads to strained designers, inefficient production processes, and inconsistent branding that can undermine a company’s identity.

This realization prompted the duo to create Obello, a platform designed to empower creative teams while maintaining brand integrity in a fast-paced, digital-first environment.

Innovative Solutions for Creative Challenges
Obello aims to provide marketing and design teams with an effective method for producing substantial amounts of polished, brand-consistent content without delays. At the heart of its offerings is the Generative Layout Assistant Model (GLAM), a sophisticated layout engine that can resize and adapt designs with minimal effort. Unlike traditional design tools that often falter in preserving visual hierarchy and balance, GLAM smartly adjusts spacing, typography, imagery, and overall structure to ensure that every iteration aligns with brand standards. Users can upload assets and define design parameters, after which Obello automates various production tasks, including text, images, motion design, and workflow processes.

In addition to streamlining design tasks, Obello is enhancing one of marketing’s longstanding challenges: the HTML email builder. Rather than relying on inflexible templates, the platform creates responsive, on-brand emails customized for each campaign.

Looking Ahead
Early adopters of Obello’s innovative solutions include notable brands such as eBay, REI, ZenBusiness, OSEA, Ritual, Whisker, Fetch, Stasher, Thistle, Output, and Qonta. The company is also planning to expand its agency partnerships in the near future. With its strong foundation in design and a clear strategy to address pressing creative bottlenecks, Obello is positioning itself as a leading solution for brands striving to maintain their identity while accelerating their growth.

In a statement regarding the funding, Ollie Ralph emphasized that artificial intelligence is intended to enhance the capabilities of creative teams rather than replace them. He noted that with Obello, designers and marketers can focus on strategic tasks that drive brand development instead of getting bogged down by repetitive production duties. Similarly, James Joaquin, co-founder of Obvious Ventures, highlighted that Obello is addressing a critical challenge faced by brands today—scaling effectively within a fragmented marketing landscape without compromising their unique identities. Ben Pham reiterated the importance of this funding, stating that it will empower design and marketing teams to generate and manage on-brand content rapidly and efficiently, fostering faster growth and deeper connections with their audiences.
