Holi Secures €3 Million in Funding to Tackle Obesity in Europe

Warsaw's Holi raises €3 million to expand its digital obesity clinic, enhancing care for over 800 million people living with obesity globally.

Holi’s Ambitious Expansion Plan

The Polish HealthTech startup, Holi, has successfully secured €3 million in Seed funding, aimed at broadening its digital obesity treatment platform across Europe. This investment round was primarily led by 4growth VC from Poland, with contributions from YZR Capital and Heartfelt Capital, both based in Germany, along with several private investors. The funding is intended to bolster Holi’s infrastructure and technology, enabling the company to scale its innovative model into new markets, particularly in Southern and Eastern Europe where there is a growing acceptance of telemedicine and private healthcare.

Comprehensive Approach to Obesity Treatment

According to Paweł Seweryn, the Founder and CEO of Holi, effective treatment for obesity necessitates a multifaceted approach that integrates various medical disciplines. He stated that the startup’s mission is to provide a thorough solution that promotes significant and lasting improvements in metabolic health. The funds will facilitate the expansion of Holi’s services and enhance its technology stack, particularly focusing on data analytics and patient engagement features. This combination of healthcare delivery and technological advancement is expected to lead to better health outcomes for patients struggling with obesity.

Holi is part of a growing trend within the European HealthTech landscape, which has seen a surge in investment this year. Other companies, such as Numan from the UK and Doctor. One from Poland, have also recently attracted significant funding, indicating a rising investor interest in obesity care and metabolic health innovations. Holi’s earlier funding of €680,000 in 2023 had already signaled its potential in the market, and this latest round marks a critical step in its journey toward regional expansion.

Innovative Technology and Patient-Centered Care

Founded in 2023, Holi offers a digital clinic that combines expertise from various medical professionals, including doctors, psychodietitians, and physiotherapists, with advanced technology that supports lifestyle modifications and pharmacological treatments. The platform also provides access to GLP-1 medications, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, which are gaining popularity in obesity management. Through its mobile application, Holi aims to deliver tailored treatment plans and continuous monitoring, operating on a subscription model that emphasizes addressing the underlying causes of obesity rather than merely alleviating symptoms.

The company reports that patients utilizing its platform achieve an average weight loss of 17% within a year, significantly surpassing results from medication alone. By merging data-driven therapy adjustments with behavioral coaching, Holi is helping patients reduce their medication expenses by up to 50%. This approach highlights the potential for Holi to not only improve individual health outcomes but also alleviate some of the burden that obesity places on global healthcare systems.

As obesity continues to be a pressing public health issue, with over 800 million individuals affected worldwide, Holi’s innovative care model addresses an urgent need in the healthcare market. The European obesity treatment sector is valued between €40 billion and €50 billion, with increasing private healthcare investments as demand for effective treatments rises.

According to Krzysztof Bachta, Managing Partner at 4growth VC, Holi’s efficient care model, which combines virtual scalability with a focus on delivering value, positioned it as a compelling investment opportunity. As the company moves forward with its expansion plans, it remains committed to maintaining high medical standards and achieving measurable health impacts for its users.
