Xperi and Sony Pictures Expand IMAX Enhanced

Xperi, through its subsidiary DTS, and IMAX announced an expansion of IMAX Enhanced content from Sony Pictures Entertainment. Hundreds of new titles will be available on Hisense and Toshiba TVs in the UK and Germany, starting early 2026. This collaboration enhances home viewing experiences.

Xperi, via its subsidiary DTS, and IMAX Corporation revealed plans to significantly increase the number of IMAX Enhanced titles offered by Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). This expansion will bring hundreds of additional films to the IMAX Enhanced catalog, enhancing the home viewing experience.

The partnership leverages IMAX‘s digitally remastered picture quality and DTS:X immersive sound. This technology aims to replicate the cinematic experience found in movie theaters.

Initially, a selection of these newly added Sony Pictures films, featuring fully localized DTS:X audio, will be available through advertising-supported video on demand (AVOD) services. These titles will be accessible on specific Hisense and Toshiba television models in the United Kingdom and Germany, with availability expected to begin in early 2026.

Xperi‘s Chief Content Officer, Bill Neighbors, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the companies’ long-standing relationship and the increased accessibility of premium home entertainment. He emphasized the goal of making high-quality cinematic experiences more readily available to consumers.

Pete Wood, SPE‘s SVP of New Media Distribution, underscored Sony Pictures’ commitment to delivering high-quality viewing experiences. He stated that the combination of IMAX Enhanced‘s visuals and DTS:X‘s sound ensures that their films are enjoyed as intended. This expansion, he explained, strengthens the position of consumer electronics manufacturers who offer the technology.

Giovanni Dolci, IMAX‘s Chief Commercial Officer, echoed these sentiments, stressing Sony Pictures‘ dedication to providing superior entertainment. He also noted that this expansion allows consumer electronics manufacturers to differentiate their products by guaranteeing superior audio and visual quality.

Those interested in experiencing IMAX Enhanced can visit Xperi‘s booth at the IFA tradeshow in Berlin from September 5th to 9th. The company’s participation in the show underscores their commitment to showcasing the technology to a wider audience.

A safe harbor statement included in the press release addresses the forward-looking nature of the announcement, acknowledging potential risks and uncertainties related to the expansion timeline and availability. Details regarding these risks are available in Xperi’s filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
