University of Phoenix Unveils TransferPath® App
In honor of National Transfer Student Week, the University of Phoenix has launched a new mobile application, TransferPath®, aimed at assisting prospective students in evaluating their previously earned college credits. This innovative app, now available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, allows users to receive a preliminary assessment of their transfer credits at no cost. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to supporting students who have some college experience but lack a degree, thereby facilitating their educational journey.
Streamlining the Transfer Process
The TransferPath® app is designed for individuals who have attended various educational institutions, including community colleges and four-year universities. Users can upload their transcripts directly through the app and receive an unofficial evaluation of how their previously earned credits could apply towards obtaining an associate or bachelor’s degree at the university. According to Devin Andrews, the vice president of Admissions and Evaluation, the app is a tool created to empower students, enabling them to swiftly understand how their past educational efforts can translate into future academic opportunities.
In the last year, the University of Phoenix has successfully accepted over one million transfer credits for its undergraduate programs, resulting in significant savings for students. On average, transfer students have saved more than $11,000 on tuition fees, further emphasizing the institution’s robust credit transfer policies that allow for up to 87 eligible credits from more than 5,000 accredited institutions.
Supporting a Diverse Student Body
The National Student Clearinghouse reports that there are approximately 43.1 million individuals under the age of 65 in the United States who have attended college but have not completed a degree. Recognizing this demographic, the University of Phoenix has fostered a culture of credit mobility, establishing processes and resources to assist transfer students. The university’s initiatives include dedicated academic advising and the provision of a Transfer Student Guide, which serves as a comprehensive resource for navigating the complexities of credit transfer.
The university also offers a unique assessment process for earning credit through life and work experiences, enabling students to earn academic credit for relevant learning outside traditional educational environments. This process is available at no cost and considers various factors, including on-the-job training and military service.
Financial Incentives for New Transfer Students
To further encourage transfer students, the University of Phoenix provides the Transfer Student Scholarship, offering financial support ranging up to $3,000 for new students transferring in a specified number of credits. This scholarship is available to those who maintain continuous enrollment and a minimum GPA of 3.0 while pursuing their bachelor’s degree.
