Tomorrow.io lands $175M to scale satellite-powered weather intelligence

Tomorrow.io, a Boston-based enterprise weather technology company, has raised $175 million in equity funding to expand its satellite network and speed up deployment of its AI-driven forecasting platform aimed at industries affected by extreme weather.

The round was led by Stonecourt Capital and HarbourVest Partners, with participation from Square Peg, Canaan, Activate Capital, Pitango, ClearVision, and Fontinalis. The company said the capital will be used to accelerate work on DeepSky, its planned AI weather satellite constellation, and to expand its global atmospheric sensing capabilities.

Why the company is betting on proprietary data

Extreme weather increasingly disrupts supply chains, aviation, logistics, and energy operations, while traditional forecasting can be too slow or insufficiently granular for real-time decisions. Tomorrow.io positions its platform as “impact-based” weather intelligence—turning atmospheric observations into operational guidance, such as location-specific hail risk for fleets or routing decisions for logistics networks.

Founded in 2017 by CEO Shimon Elkabetz alongside Itai Zlotnik and Rei Goffer, the company differentiates itself by operating its own satellites rather than relying primarily on government datasets. It currently uses 13 active satellites combined with generative AI and advanced modeling to provide high-frequency monitoring, offering rapid “nowcasts” and forecasts designed for business use cases.

DeepSky expansion and new markets

The new funding is expected to support an aggressive rollout of DeepSky, with a long-term goal of a network exceeding 100 satellites for continuous global coverage. Tomorrow.io said it plans to increase launches in 2026, broaden its customer base beyond logistics and energy into agriculture and defense, and introduce climate resilience APIs. The company is targeting full constellation coverage by 2028.
