BOSTON — RemotePass secured $17.4 million in a Series B funding round on Tuesday, led by EBRD Venture Capital, to expand its international payroll platform. Founded in 2021 by Kamal Reggad and Karim Nadi, the startup reached profitability last year after operating with minimal capital.

Based in Boston and Abu Dhabi, the company relies on a business model charging per-worker fees for its Employer of Record and contractor management services. Amine Chabane, principal at EBRD, said the firm reached significant scale compared to competitors in the industry.

With participation from 500 Global, Oraseya Capital, and Khwarizmi Ventures, total funding for RemotePass now stands at $28 million. The startup currently serves corporate clients including Logitech and Tata Group through its distributed work platform.

Chief Executive Officer Kamal Reggad said on Tuesday that the new financing will fund acceleration and product development. The company currently employs 140 workers and plans to expand that total to approximately 200 employees by the end of the year.

Funds will also support artificial intelligence initiatives aimed at automating onboarding processes and compliance workflows across international jurisdictions. The firm operates with offices in the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
