BERLIN — Workflow automation startup n8n secured a valuation of $5.2 billion on Tuesday following a strategic investment from software giant SAP. The Berlin-based company doubled its valuation from $2.5 billion in October, according to details released by the firms.
Founder Jan Oberhauser launched the company in 2019 to provide developers with open-source automation infrastructure. The platform currently serves over 1,400 enterprise customers alongside 1.7 million monthly active developers globally, the company confirmed in a statement.
Under a multi-year commercial agreement signed this week, n8n will integrate its workflow platform directly into Joule Studio, SAP's agent-building environment within its Business AI Platform. Christian Klein, CEO of SAP SE, said the integration aims to help customers design and scale agentic AI across core business processes.
Competitors in the automation market include UiPath and Zapier, though n8n differentiates itself by supporting multi-agent orchestration across more than 1,000 integrations. The system allows enterprises to maintain compliance with regulations such as GDPR while connecting external software tools with SAP environments.
Oberhauser said the strategic investment marks a pivotal moment for the organization as it expands enterprise capabilities. The company did not disclose the exact financial breakdown of the SAP investment or the specific equity stake acquired in the funding round.
