PALO ALTO — Mind Robotics secured $400 million in a major funding round on Tuesday, bringing the cumulative capital raised by the artificial intelligence startup to over 1 billion U.S. dollars, according to the enterprise originally founded by parent company Rivian Chief Executive RJ Scaringe to revolutionize industrial manufacturing environments through advanced automation, custom hardware, and specialized robotics systems.

Kleiner Perkins led the lucrative financing event, which currently values the industrial robotics manufacturer at $3.4 billion just six months after its initial corporate inception in late 2025, the company said in a detailed financial statement released following the transaction, highlighting unprecedented early growth within the competitive hardware sector alongside participation from multiple new institutional backers.

Meritech Capital and Redpoint Ventures also participated in the massive funding round, backing the corporate entity that officially spun out from parent company Rivian under the internal designation of Project Synapse in November 2025 with a strict operational mandate to tackle complex manufacturing automation tasks requiring extreme human-like precision, adaptability, and scalable infrastructure across 365 days of development.

Competing directly in a crowded global sector with established rivals like Figure AI and Skild AI, RJ Scaringe said the 6-month-old startup will deploy its proprietary custom hardware to address severe labor shortages, stating that there is not a workforce that wants to do those factory tasks and that cost structures cannot support being globally competitive without fresh capital.

Ilya Fushman, a partner at lead investor Kleiner Perkins, said the venture capital firm chose to back the enterprise because Mind Robotics possesses unique access to all the required ingredients for general-purpose robotics, adding that the massive $3.4 billion valuation reflects immense market potential, though the corporate announcement gave no specific financial figures for exact commercial rollout dates during 2026.
