Mega lands $11.5M Series A to scale AI growth platform
Brooklyn-based startup Mega has raised $11.5 million in Series A funding to expand its AI-driven growth platform aimed at small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). The round was led by Goodwater Capital with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Atreides Management, SignalFire and Kearny Jackson. A notable portion of the backing also came from professional athletes, including WNBA players Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, Kelsey Plum and Nneka Ogwumike.
From internal tools to a product pivot
Lucas Pellan, co-founder of Mega, said the company began as a video game venture during the COVID era, but struggled with the high cost and unpredictability of traditional SEO and agency-led marketing. After experimenting with automation and later incorporating ChatGPT-era capabilities, the team claims its internal system drove a 100x increase in organic traffic and reduced paid customer acquisition costs by 80%.
Those results prompted a pivot in April 2025 after other founders asked to use the tools, Pellan said. The company’s core bet: SMBs don’t want another prompt-heavy chatbot— they want outcomes delivered end-to-end.
Replacing agencies with a hybrid AI-plus-human model
Mega targets businesses with roughly $500,000 to $20 million in revenue, a segment often caught between do-it-yourself tools and expensive agency retainers. The platform uses specialized AI agents to plan, launch and optimize SEO, paid ads, “GEO” and website management. Mega says about 55% of work is fully automated, 35% is mostly automated with humans in the loop, and 10% is handled entirely by people for quality control.
Traction and expansion plans
The startup says it grew from zero to $10 million in revenue in 10 months, serving customers across home services, legal, healthcare, ecommerce and software. Next, Mega plans to add agents for email, outbound, organic social, lead qualification, sales operations, reporting and analytics—expanding from marketing execution into a broader revenue engine.
