The Kling AI NextGen Creative Contest has unveiled its jury, which includes an Oscar-winning art director and celebrated filmmakers from Asia and the U.S.
Kuaishou Technology’s video generation model, Kling AI, has finalized the panel of judges for its inaugural “NextGen Creative Contest.” The selection brings together a diverse group of industry leaders whose work spans award-winning cinema, animation, and technology, reflecting the competition’s focus on bridging creative arts with artificial intelligence.
A Jury of International Acclaim
The panel is led by globally recognized figures, including Tim Yip, the Art Director who won an Academy Award for his work on “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” He is joined by prominent South Korean filmmaker LEE Hwan-kyung, best known as the director and screenwriter of the acclaimed film “Miracle in Cell No. 7.”
The jury also draws expertise from top academic and professional institutions. Wei Li, the Vice President of the Beijing Film Academy, and Hans-Martin Liebing, a Film & Television Producer and faculty member at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, represent a strong connection to film education. The panel is rounded out by Animation Director Momo Wang; multi-disciplinary creator Eric W. Shamlin; and Gai Kun, the Senior Vice President of Kuaishou Technology and Head of Kling AI.
Backed by Major Industry Events
The competition’s global reach is underscored by its collaboration with three of the world’s most significant content markets. The partners include TIFFCOM, the film and TV market associated with the Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan; MIPCOM, the premier global entertainment market held annually in Cannes, France; and the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM), which is a core component of the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.
Showcasing AI’s Creative Potential
The contest is designed to showcase the capabilities of the Kling AI model, a powerful tool that can generate up to two minutes of high-definition 1080p video from simple text prompts. By inviting creators to use this technology, Kuaishou aims to foster a community and explore new frontiers in digital filmmaking and artistic expression. The competition serves as a platform for artists to experiment with AI as a primary creative instrument.
