Kate Monroe, a Marine Corps veteran and the CEO of VetComm US, took decisive action to help Staff Sergeant Veronica Chacon, an injured Air Force reservist and mother of twin girls. Following a serious car accident in July, Chacon and her daughters sustained significant injuries.
Chacon and her daughters were involved in a collision with an uninsured driver in San Diego. Chacon suffered double leg fractures, while her daughters endured various injuries, including internal bleeding, a broken nose, and a dislocated shoulder.
Deeply moved by their situation, Monroe visited the family. She brought a gift basket filled with toys and essential supplies. During the visit, she learned about their GoFundMe campaign created to help cover medical expenses. Monroe immediately paid the outstanding balance, ensuring immediate medical costs were addressed.
Beyond the financial assistance, Monroe committed to providing ongoing support to the family. This includes arranging for regular food deliveries and caregiver assistance. Monroe also pledged to help Chacon navigate the complexities of her VA disability claim process.
Monroe emphasized that her actions reflected VetComm‘s core mission. She stated that supporting veterans and their families is a priority, not an act of charity, but a matter of responsibility. Her actions have garnered significant attention from local news outlets such as ABC10 News and Fox5 San Diego.
The GoFundMe campaign remains active, enabling those who wish to contribute to Chacon‘s long-term recovery efforts to continue doing so. VetComm US, founded by Monroe, focuses on assisting service members and their families in navigating the VA disability claims system. The organization provides personalized support, national advocacy, and educational resources to help veterans access the benefits they have earned.
