JLab Unveils Sustainable Audio at IFA 2025

JLab announced its commitment to sustainable audio technology at IFA 2025 in Berlin. The company showcased new headphones and earbuds with replaceable batteries, launching a year ahead of the EU mandate. This initiative prioritizes both customer needs and environmental responsibility.

JLab, a leader in personal audio technology, highlighted its dedication to sustainability and innovation at IFA 2025 in Berlin, Germany. The company unveiled a new battery replacement strategy for the European Union market, preceding the EU’s 2027 mandate by over a year. This proactive approach underscores JLab’s focus on customer needs and environmental responsibility.

JLab showcased two new products: the JBuds Open headphones and the Epic Pods earbuds. Both are designed with easily replaceable batteries. Earbuds will utilize universal coin cell batteries, while headphones and charging cases will feature easily replaceable soft pack batteries. These batteries are readily available through JLab’s website and customer service. The products’ design facilitates simple battery replacement using standard screws or a twist-lock mechanism.

Win Cramer, JLab’s CEO, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability. He stated that JLab aims to lead the industry in environmentally conscious practices. The company believes in empowering consumers to extend the life of their products, benefiting both users and the environment. Cramer expressed satisfaction in launching these innovations well before the EU regulations take effect.

Production of both the JBuds Open and Epic Pods will begin in 2026, ahead of the EU mandate requiring easily replaceable batteries. The initiative allows consumers to easily replace the batteries themselves using readily available tools. JLab is also committed to eco-friendly packaging, using 100% recyclable materials, eliminating plastics even in stickers.

The JBuds Open headphones feature a unique open-ear, open-back design. This allows users to enjoy high-quality audio while remaining aware of their surroundings. The coaxial speaker setup creates an immersive sound experience. The headphones also incorporate JLab’s proprietary sound steering technology, minimizing sound leakage. With dual drivers, they offer crisp highs, strong mid-range, and powerful bass. Noise-cancelling microphones ensure clear calls. They boast an 18+ hour battery life and dual-device Bluetooth connectivity. The JBuds Open will be available in the United States this November, with a global rollout in early 2026.

The Epic Pods earbuds build upon JLab’s stem-style design, providing stability and high-quality sound. They feature adaptive noise cancellation, automatically adjusting to the user’s environment. Offering over 40 hours of playtime with ANC off and 30+ with ANC on, they also provide a quick five-hour charge in just 10 minutes. With an IP55 rating, they’re suitable for workouts and travel. The Epic Pods will launch in the United States later this month, followed by a global release in early 2026.

Both the JBuds Open and Epic Pods are compatible with various operating systems and offer features like firmware updates, customizable EQ settings, and a workout timer through the JLab app.
