Miami-based artist Jalil Lopez unveiled his latest musical endeavor, Metamorfosis, a seven-track EP augmented by a bonus track. Released on September 5th through RMG, the project reflects a significant creative evolution for the Newark-born singer.
Lopez described Metamorfosis as a deeply personal reflection of his life experiences, encompassing both hardship and resilience. He aimed to create a project that resonated with his global fanbase on a profoundly intimate level.
The EP features a diverse range of collaborators, including three-time Latin Grammy nominee and 2024 Latin Grammy winner for Song of the Year, Andres Rios; Latin Grammy-nominated artist Jorge Milano; Lil’ Genuiz; and four-time Latin Grammy winner Alejandro “Mosty” Patiño.
Metamorfosis blends the traditional sounds of Bachata with the modern influences of urban soul and hip hop, reflecting Lopez‘s diverse musical background. The lyrics delve into themes of grief, redemption, self-discovery, and joy, delivered with a raw vulnerability that aims for broad appeal.
Building on the success of previous singles like “No Vas a Encontrar,” “La Culpable,” and “Borracho y Loco,” Metamorfosis represents a pivotal moment in Lopez‘s career. While known for earlier hits such as “Princesa Mía” and “Tu Primer Amor,” as well as collaborations with artists like Rick Ross and DJ Khaled, this project marks a more profound artistic shift.
The EP’s title, Metamorfosis, aptly encapsulates this transformative journey. It showcases Lopez‘s growth, resilience, and renewed purpose, revealing layers of his personal narrative through music. The project is intended to demonstrate a stronger, more authentic version of the artist, contributing a distinctive voice to the constantly evolving landscape of Latin music.
Metamorfosis is available across all major streaming platforms.
