iPNOTE, a legal technology startup with a presence in both Spain and the United States, has successfully completed a Seed funding round, raising €857,000 to further its mission of streamlining intellectual property (IP) management through artificial intelligence. The funding, primarily led by AltaIR Capital, also saw contributions from Hi2 Venture Fund and various angel investors, including partners from the Turkish law firm Erdem Kaya Patent as well as founders from promising tech startups like Super, Lokalise, and Chainstack.
The founder and CEO of iPNOTE, Alex Levkin, emphasized that businesses today face significant challenges in safeguarding their innovations on a global scale. According to Levkin, the company aims to simplify this complex process by offering a unified AI-powered interface that automates interactions with IP attorneys, thereby reducing the cumbersome back-and-forth communication typically involved in IP management. He noted that this funding will enable iPNOTE to bring its enterprise solution to fruition, promoting a seamless experience akin to modern software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms.
Growth in the European LegalTech Sector
The successful funding round of iPNOTE is reflective of a broader trend within the European LegalTech landscape, which has seen a significant uptick in investments in 2025. Various early-stage companies have attracted substantial funding, with Pandektes in Denmark securing €2.9 million for legal research automation, while Augmetec in the UK raised over €2.4 million for its AI-driven regulatory investigation tools. Noteworthy larger funding rounds include Lexroom from Italy, which raised €16.2 million, and Legora from Sweden, which secured €70.6 million for its collaborative AI platforms aimed at law firms.
Amidst this growing environment, iPNOTE distinguishes itself as one of the few Spanish-affiliated LegalTech firms specializing in intellectual property management. The company’s innovative approach to automating global IP filings aligns with a sector-wide shift towards integrating AI into legal workflows, positioning iPNOTE advantageously for future growth across Europe, the UK, and the United States.
Innovative AI Solutions for IP Management
The company was established in 2022 by Levkin, a certified patent attorney with over 13 years of experience in intellectual property law. Prior to founding iPNOTE, Levkin operated an IP law firm that catered to startups, providing them with affordable solutions in international markets. His experiences highlighted the difficulties in scaling traditional IP practices, leading him to envision a platform that integrates fragmented IP processes while connecting businesses to reliable contractors.
In 2023 alone, over 23 million intellectual property applications were filed globally, with Europe accounting for approximately 3.3 million of these filings. Despite this high level of activity, iPNOTE points out that IP protection remains a manual and fragmented process, requiring companies to engage local providers in each jurisdiction where protection is sought. This often results in inefficient workflows and elevated operational costs. The platform developed by iPNOTE streamlines the management of numerous trademark and patent applications across multiple jurisdictions, offering users the ability to automate communication with IP service providers around the globe.
At the heart of this innovation is an AI paralegal, which facilitates the management of global IP filings and handles up to 90% of routine communications. This AI technology oversees the entire IP registration process, responding to inquiries from attorneys, evaluating deliverables, summarizing documents, tracking deadlines, and managing payments. By replacing the traditional method of numerous emails and communications, the AI allows IP managers to interact with a single assistant that coordinates effectively with patent attorneys worldwide, significantly reducing the time and effort required.
Global Reach and Future Prospects
The implications of iPNOTE‘s technology extend beyond just efficiency; they also enhance accessibility in IP protection. As Jerry Wang, founder and CEO of Hi2 Global, remarked, the company’s solutions not only automate IP management but also ensure comprehensive global coverage, making it feasible for clients to protect their rights across more than 100 emerging and frontier markets.
With its SaaS platform already operational and having processed over 2,000 IP cases in over 130 countries, iPNOTE has reportedly saved its clients millions in IP expenses. Notably, half of its enterprise pipeline consists of large corporations in Europe and the UK, marking these regions as the fastest-growing segments for the company. The future looks promising for iPNOTE as it continues to innovate within the LegalTech space, addressing the pressing needs of businesses in managing their intellectual property rights more effectively.
