iPNOTE Secures $1 Million in Seed Funding to Streamline IP Management

iPNOTE has raised $1 million to enhance its AI-driven intellectual property management platform, aiming for expansion in Europe and the US market.

Global Surge in IP Applications
In 2023, creators and businesses across the globe submitted over 23 million intellectual property (IP) applications, which include patents, trademarks, and industrial designs. Notably, Europe accounted for approximately 3.3 million of these filings, indicative of a rising trend in innovation activities. However, the process of securing IP rights remains convoluted and often fragmented, presenting substantial challenges for companies that seek protection in multiple nations. To navigate this complexity, businesses typically engage local patent firms in each jurisdiction, which results in extensive paperwork, disjointed communications, and elevated legal expenses.

iPNOTE’s Innovative Solution
Addressing these challenges, the legal tech startup iPNOTE, founded in 2021 by certified patent attorney Alex Levkin, has developed a platform that consolidates all trademark and patent filings into a singular, cloud-based system. Recently, the company secured $1 million in seed funding, aimed at enhancing its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered IP management platform. This funding round was led by AltaIR Capital and included contributions from Hi2 Venture Fund and various angel investors, including partners from Erdem Kaya Patent and founders of notable tech startups like Super, Lokalise, and Chainstack.

With the infusion of new capital, iPNOTE intends to refine its AI agent, broaden its footprint in Europe and the UK, and make inroads into the US market, targeting a diverse range of multinational clients. Levkin emphasized the company’s mission to simplify the global IP protection process, aiming to create a single point of interaction that automates tedious communications with IP attorneys. He noted that the goal is to make IP management as straightforward as any contemporary software as a service (SaaS) experience.

AI-Driven Efficiency
The platform’s AI paralegal significantly enhances communication between businesses and local IP attorneys, reportedly cutting registration costs by up to 30%. This AI tool takes charge of routine tasks, including document reviews, attorney follow-ups, deadline management, and payment processing. In instances where the AI encounters complex issues, it promptly escalates them to a qualified human expert, ensuring accountability and precision throughout the process.

In Levkin’s view, the current challenges faced by companies in global IP protection are immense. He argued that the inefficiencies inherent in traditional workflows prompted the inception of iPNOTE, which strives to replace these cumbersome processes with an AI-centric model. He remarked that the new funding would enable the company to further develop its enterprise solution, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of IP management.

Competitive Landscape and Future Prospects
iPNOTE faces competition from established legal tech firms and IP management platforms such as FoundationIP, Anaqua, and Lecorpio, which primarily focus on less automated management solutions. In contrast, iPNOTE distinguishes itself through its integration of autonomous, AI-driven workflows that span over 130 countries, balancing technological efficiency with professional human oversight.

Since its establishment, iPNOTE has successfully handled more than 2,000 IP cases globally, resulting in substantial savings in filing costs for its clients. The company also launched an IP Leaders Network, fostering collaboration among executives from notable organizations such as GEA Group, Roche, Supplant Company, and Grupo AlEn. This initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of insights and advancements in AI-driven IP management.

Moving forward, iPNOTE is poised to deepen its market presence in Europe, the UK, and the US while continuing to enhance its AI capabilities and expand its network of enterprise clients. As it processes thousands of IP cases successfully, iPNOTE is well-positioned to emerge as a key player in the evolution of global IP management. As Igor Ryabenkiy, Founder and Managing Partner at AltaIR Capital, articulated, iPNOTE exemplifies how AI can streamline global IP coverage, alleviating the burdens associated with managing multiple legal representatives. Jerry Wang, Founder and CEO of Hi2 Global, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the company’s potential to deliver tangible solutions in IP management across emerging markets.
