Humana Unveils Veteran-Focused Medicare Advantage Plans for 2026

Humana collaborates with USAA to introduce innovative Medicare Advantage plans for veterans, emphasizing mental health support and comprehensive care options.

Humana Inc., in conjunction with USAA Life Insurance Company, has announced the launch of its 2026 Medicare Advantage plans specifically tailored for veterans. This initiative aims to address the unique healthcare needs of veterans, particularly focusing on mental health support, which has become increasingly important as many veterans age. The newly introduced Humana USAA Honor Giveback Plans will not only enhance access to healthcare services but also offer a suite of benefits designed to promote well-being among those who have served in the military.

Addressing the Healthcare Needs of Veterans

With nearly half of the veteran population in the United States being 65 years or older, they often confront distinctive health challenges, including chronic illnesses and mental health issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. Statistics reveal that the suicide rate among veterans is approximately 60% higher than the national average, highlighting the critical requirement for effective and compassionate mental health services. The 2026 plans will feature $0 copays for in-network mental health services, encompassing both in-person and virtual therapy sessions. As noted by Mary Story, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Retirement Solutions at USAA, veterans possess remarkable resilience and strength, and it is imperative they receive healthcare that acknowledges their sacrifices.

Flexible and Comprehensive Benefits

The Humana USAA Honor Giveback Plans will also provide beneficiaries with additional financial incentives, including a Part B giveback that will reduce the cost of their Social Security check by covering part of the Part B premium. Beneficiaries can expect no monthly premiums, $0 copays for primary care visits, and included dental, vision, and hearing coverage. George Renaudin, President of Insurance at Humana, emphasized the importance of flexibility in healthcare, stating that the collaboration with USAA has resulted in plans that allow veterans to access the services that are most beneficial to them, including options to consult civilian healthcare providers.

Comprehensive Support Initiatives

Beyond insurance, Humana is dedicated to enhancing the lives of veterans through various initiatives aimed at combating social isolation and improving healthcare access. One notable effort is the Face the Fight coalition, which unites businesses and organizations, including USAA, to address the veteran suicide crisis through community awareness and action. Furthermore, the Humana Community Navigator platform connects veterans with local resources to meet their diverse needs, whether it be food, housing, or mental health services.

Availability and Enrollment Information

The 2026 Humana USAA Honor Giveback Plans will be accessible to Medicare beneficiaries across 2,541 counties in 46 states and Washington, D.C. An additional version that includes prescription drug coverage will be available in selected counties.
