BRUSSELS — The Belgian software company Holmes announced on Tuesday that it has secured 1.1 million euros in a new pre-seed funding round. This capital injection will support the development of autonomous quality assurance tools specifically built for AI code. Syndicate One led the investment round, which included participation from two prominent individual investors.

The funding round includes backing from Willem Delbare and Roeland Delru, the co-founders of the cybersecurity firm Aikido. These two industry veterans provided the capital to help Holmes expand its technical capabilities. The company did not disclose the specific date the funding round closed, nor did it provide a breakdown of the equity stakes held by the investors.

Holmes is currently working with 30 design partners to refine its quality assurance software. Willem Delbare said in a statement on Tuesday that the firm is committed to supporting female-led initiatives within the technology sector. The company aims to provide tools that verify the reliability of code generated by artificial intelligence systems.

The startup faces a market where reliance on AI technologies has grown across various sectors in 2024. Holmes intends to use the 1.1 million euros to hire additional staff and improve its product testing protocols. The firm has not yet released a public roadmap detailing its specific hiring targets or office expansion plans for the remainder of the year.

Financial records indicate that the 1.1 million euro investment is the first major infusion of capital for the company. Holmes must now demonstrate that its software can scale to meet the needs of its 30 design partners. The company did not provide a date for when its next round of funding might occur or when it expects to reach profitability.
