Exwayz Secures €1 Million Funding to Advance 3D Navigation Tech

Exwayz, founded by Hassan Bouchiba and others, raises €1 million to enhance 3D navigation for autonomous systems amid GPS challenges in complex settings.

Exwayz Innovates 3D Navigation for Autonomous Systems

Since its inception in 2021, Exwayz has been at the forefront of developing innovative solutions to enhance the navigation capabilities of autonomous systems. Founded by Hassan Bouchiba, Mathias Corsia, and Antoine Plat, the company focuses on creating advanced 3D perception and navigation software that addresses the challenges faced by robotic systems operating in complex environments like ports, factories, and urban areas, where GPS signals are often unreliable. The startup’s cutting-edge technology, known as SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), enables robots equipped with LiDAR to achieve centimeter-level accuracy without relying on GPS.

Recently, Exwayz successfully raised €1 million in a funding round led by CentraleSupélec Venture, which included a grant from the France 2030 i-Lab Innovation Competition. This funding will bolster the company’s efforts to refine its algorithms and expand its engineering team. Additionally, the company has received recognition as one of the Future 40 startups at Station F in 2023 and has achieved certification from BPI Deeptech.

Real-World Applications of Exwayz Technology

Exwayz‘s technology has already been deployed across five continents, showcasing its versatility and effectiveness. For instance, in Switzerland, the scale-up company Embotech utilizes Exwayz SLAM to navigate fully autonomous trucks in logistics hubs where GPS coverage is inconsistent. Looking ahead, a significant deployment is planned for 2026 at the Port of Rotterdam, where 30 autonomous trucks will operate to enhance container handling efficiency and safety.

In the United States, Cyvl.ai, a geospatial data firm, employs Exwayz SLAM to generate high-precision 3D maps of extensive road networks, enabling the annual mapping of tens of thousands of kilometers. This initiative supports predictive maintenance and infrastructure modernization, highlighting the crucial role of accurate geospatial data in urban planning and management.

Future Plans and Strategic Expansion

The funds raised will be pivotal for Exwayz in scaling its commercial operations and expanding into new markets, particularly in robotics, mobility, logistics, and industrial inspections. The company aims to enhance its SLAM algorithms, ensuring that its technology remains at the cutting edge of the industry.

Giorgio Corbellini, COO of Embotech, acknowledged the value of Exwayz‘s contributions, noting their precise LiDAR-based capabilities significantly bolster their autonomous solutions. He emphasized the quality and consistency of the technology, which he finds crucial for their operations. Similarly, Daniel Pelaez, CEO of Cyvl.ai, praised the partnership with Exwayz, highlighting the role of their software in delivering high-quality 3D mapping solutions for urban environments.

As Exwayz continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in autonomous navigation, its commitment to innovation and collaboration positions it as a key player in the rapidly evolving robotics landscape.
