Equip Expo 2025: Kris Kiser on Growth

Equip Exposition, owned by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), returns to Louisville, Kentucky, October 21-24. Kris Kiser, OPEI CEO, highlights new features focusing on equipment testing, networking, and the expanding tree care market. Expect hands-on demos and educational sessions.

The Equip Exposition, a leading trade show for landscaping, contracting, and outdoor power equipment, will take place from October 21-24 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. This year’s event promises a range of new features designed to enhance the attendee experience.

Kris Kiser, President and CEO of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), which owns Equip Exposition, emphasized the event’s evolution based on visitor feedback. He noted a strong demand for opportunities to test equipment, network with industry peers, and explore emerging profit avenues, such as the growing tree care sector. This year’s show aims to directly address these needs.

The expo will feature a large outdoor demo yard covering 30 acres, allowing attendees to test drive and operate various pieces of equipment. An expanded UTV test track has also been added for improved convenience and accessibility. A new Tree Care Arena, sponsored by Altec, will offer live demonstrations, training sessions, and product showcases focused on this specialized area.

Educational opportunities abound. Attendees can participate in the Pro Talk Series, featuring short, informative sessions with industry experts. A welcome reception at Churchill Downs, sponsored by Caterpillar, will provide a networking opportunity. A Wednesday night block party with a concert is planned, sponsored by the Propane Education & Research Council. Another concert, featuring Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson, sponsored by Gravely, will take place on Thursday.

Other highlights include a new product showcase, a 5K fun run benefiting the Kentucky Humane Society, and a tasting of Equip Exposition‘s own bourbon, the “Backyard Blend.” The expo will also include a “Creator Space” with social media influencers and live podcasts.

The event will utilize an app, sponsored by CASE Construction Equipment, to facilitate planning and navigation. Last year’s show drew a record-breaking 28,500 attendees from across the United States and internationally. Registration is available online, with varying prices depending on the registration date. Continuing education courses are also offered, but these often sell out quickly.
