BERLIN — Earlybird Venture Capital has closed a €360 million fund to back artificial intelligence, software infrastructure, and deeptech startups across Europe, the firm said in a statement on Tuesday. The new vehicle targets enterprise software, advanced machine learning systems, and complex hardware components developed by regional founders seeking capital to scale operations, hire staff, and build future technologies across the continent.
The vehicle represents the single largest pool of capital ever raised by Earlybird in the firm's decades-long history, according to company disclosures. Partners at Earlybird will deploy the €360 million across software infrastructure, advanced hardware companies, and artificial intelligence startups during the upcoming investment cycle while managing portfolio support directly without outside interference from external parties or traditional advisory boards.
Limited partners contributed the financial backing over recent months through standard commitment agreements, the venture capital firm said in official documentation. Earlybird has backed dozens of technology firms since its founding decades ago, providing necessary cash for payroll, server costs, and lab equipment to founders who sign formal term sheets with the organization and watch funds move directly into corporate bank accounts.
Partners will run investment decisions and portfolio support without outside interference under a new ownership model adopted for the vehicle, the company confirmed on Tuesday. The internal structure places financial stakes directly in the hands of Earlybird partners overseeing the portfolio to capture returns from early-stage technology companies building advanced systems across multiple engineering disciplines.
The first investments from the €360 million pool will deploy later this year once partners clear their initial batch of due diligence meetings with founders, the firm said. Earlybird did not disclose a precise calendar date for the initial wire transfers, the names of the first target companies, or the exact allocation amount for the initial funding round.
