Banner Bank has officially announced the promotion of Dan Oxford to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, a strategic move aimed at bolstering the bank’s leadership in enterprise-wide risk management. In his new role, Oxford will oversee a comprehensive array of risk categories, including Enterprise Risk, Model Risk, Climate Risk, Compliance, Financial Crimes (AML/BSA/OFAC), Fraud, Vendor Risk, Appraisal, and Credit Review teams. Additionally, he will chair the bank’s Risk Management Oversight Committee, a critical function that underscores the importance of risk governance in today’s financial landscape.
Dan Oxford joined Banner Bank in 2010 and has steadily progressed through various leadership roles, most recently serving as Senior Vice President, Risk Services Director, and Chief Appraiser. Over his 15-year tenure, he has significantly contributed to the enhancement of risk frameworks at the bank, ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a culture focused on accountability and transparency. His prior experience in the real estate sector has also been instrumental in shaping his capabilities within the bank’s appraisal department.
Commenting on Oxford’s promotion, Jim Costa, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, noted that this advancement reflects Oxford’s extensive institutional knowledge, strategic approach, and collaborative leadership style, which are vital in navigating the complexities of modern banking. Academically, Oxford holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwest University and an MBA from Gonzaga University. He is also a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School and possesses multiple professional designations, including being a Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and a certified appraisal specialist (AI-GRS). In his new role, he will report directly to the bank’s Board of Directors’ Risk Committee as well as to Jim Costa.
