CTCI and Mitsubishi Power Secure Record Taiwan Power Plant Deal

CTCI, in partnership with Mitsubishi Power, secured a record NT$154.7 billion contract to upgrade Taiwan's Tung Hsiao Power Plant. The project, expected to be completed by 2031, will significantly boost Taiwan's power capacity and contribute to its net-zero goals.

CTCI, a leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm in Taiwan, announced a landmark agreement with Mitsubishi Power Ltd. of Japan. The joint venture will undertake a substantial upgrade of the Tung Hsiao Power Plant for Taiwan Power Company (Taipower).

The project involves constructing five new combined-cycle generating units, adding 2,800 megawatts of capacity to the existing plant. Completion is slated for 2031.

This expansion is crucial for meeting the growing energy demands of Taiwan‘s industrial hubs, including the Hsinchu and Taichung Science Parks, as well as residential needs. The project aligns with the Taiwanese government’s push for a cleaner energy future.

Taipower‘s initiative is part of its broader energy transition strategy. The new units will utilize advanced technology, resulting in significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions compared to coal-fired plants. The incorporation of hydrogen-natural gas mixed combustion capabilities represents a key step toward fully hydrogen-powered generation.

CTCI‘s chairman, Michael Yang, expressed gratitude for Taipower‘s confidence in the company. He highlighted the continued partnership with Mitsubishi Power, referencing their prior collaboration on the Tung Hsiao Phase 1 project. Yang also emphasized CTCI‘s commitment to providing reliable services and contributing to Taiwan‘s energy security goals.

CTCI boasts extensive experience in various power plant projects, including combined-cycle, thermal, nuclear, and cogeneration plants. The company is also actively involved in renewable energy initiatives, such as solar, biomass, and wind power projects.
