Builders’ Funding Milestone
The Rotterdam-based venture studio, Builders, has successfully secured an additional €3 million in funding, elevating its total investment to €4.5 million. This latest round attracted contributions from several family offices, including Den Breems & Schouten B.V., Invint Capital, and Vajoinvest, alongside a group of angel investors comprising names such as Peter Kaas, Wouter Holtslag, and Edwin de Jonge. The infusion of capital is earmarked for scaling operations, developing proprietary artificial intelligence tools, and enhancing support programs for founders, positioning Builders as a prominent player in Europe’s enterprise AI landscape.
Foundational Insights and Growth Strategy
Founded in 2021 by entrepreneurs Sharon Klaver and Michael van Lier, Builders was established with the vision of transforming ambitious startup ideas into successful, self-sustaining businesses. The venture studio collaborates closely with startup founders to provide essential expertise in product validation, recruitment, and securing funding. Its inaugural funding round of €1.5 million facilitated the establishment of several startups, including Noon, Obeyo, and Influentials, the latter of which has since been acquired. Learning from its initial experiences, Builders has sharpened its focus on the enterprise AI sector, adopting a more streamlined and scalable operational model.
With the recent funding boost, Builders has introduced a new portfolio of startups, including Everday, Avery, and Cortena, all of which are poised to seek seed funding. The studio aims to launch a minimum of four new AI-focused companies each year, moving closer to achieving full operational self-sufficiency.
Future Vision and Expansion Plans
Looking to the future, Builders is preparing to initiate a substantial €25 million fund dedicated to investing throughout its AI ecosystem. This fund will support new ventures, follow-on funding rounds, and collaborative efforts with European partners, with the first closing anticipated by summer 2026. Builders aims to extend its innovative model across Europe by partnering with other venture builders and startup accelerators, intending to increase its annual company launches from four to ten. This strategic initiative is a critical step toward establishing Builders as a pan-European hub for AI innovation, enabling startups to grow in a more efficient, agile, and sustainable manner.
In a statement regarding their operational philosophy, co-founder Sharon Klaver emphasized the studio’s hands-on approach, asserting that they are deeply involved in the entrepreneurial journey alongside founders. She expressed confidence that this funding will enable Builders to expand its reach and refine its model further across Europe. Similarly, Remco Schouten, a partner at Den Breems & Schouten B.V., acknowledged Builders’ extensive experience in company development, highlighting their commitment to a lean model and hands-on strategies as critical factors in their potential for growth.
