Bonerge‘s Urolithin A Approved in China

Bonerge and TECH-INNO Health's MitoYouth® Urolithin A received approval from China's NMPA as a new cosmetic ingredient. This allows for the development of skincare products leveraging circadian rhythm science, offering a novel approach to anti-aging. The ingredient's dual application in oral supplements and topical products further expands its potential.

Bonerge and TECH-INNO Health announced that their jointly developed MitoYouth® Urolithin A has been approved by China‘s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) as a new cosmetic ingredient. This approval marks a significant step in the application of circadian rhythm science to skincare.

The ingredient will be used as a skin protectant in cosmetic products. This development allows brands to create anti-aging products based on the latest scientific understanding of the skin’s internal clock. The trend of targeting biological processes at the cellular level, rather than just surface treatments, is gaining significant traction globally. Many international brands have already started incorporating this concept into their products.

Skin cells possess a biological clock crucial for repair, regeneration, and maintaining the skin barrier. Disruptions to this circadian rhythm lead to problems like increased moisture loss and accelerated collagen degradation. Urolithin A has shown promise in restoring and strengthening this rhythm in various studies. Research indicates it can significantly boost the function of core clock genes, leading to improved cellular rhythmicity.

Bonerge has previously introduced Urolithin A in dietary supplements under the brand name StanYouth®. Clinical trials have demonstrated its positive effects on skin barrier function and elasticity. Further studies are underway to investigate its impact on sleep quality and circadian rhythm regulation.

The NMPA approval opens the door for the use of MitoYouth® Urolithin A in topical skincare products. Advanced delivery systems, such as liposomal encapsulation, will be used to enhance its stability and absorption into the skin. This makes it suitable for incorporation into various formulations, including serums, creams, and eye creams.

Bonerge plans to continue research and collaborations to aid brands in developing products that align with the body’s natural rhythms. The company views Urolithin A as a significant advancement in anti-aging, offering a comprehensive approach by addressing both internal and external factors. The dual application, in both oral supplements and topical skincare, represents a holistic strategy for skin health.
