Bogotá, Colombia, will serve as the host city for the 2025 International Summit on Sustainability and Environmental Innovation, taking place from September 9th to 11th. The event is anticipated to draw a large international audience, comprising more than 30,000 participants, over 200 international experts, and representatives from over 40 countries.
The summit is a collaborative effort, organized by CAR Cundinamarca, the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB), the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), and Grupo Prisa. It aims to bring together leaders from science, politics, and business to address the climate crisis and foster the development of low-carbon economies.
The summit’s academic program is extensive, featuring more than 185 sessions spread across 12 thematic areas. Key topics will include energy transition, bioeconomy, climate justice, ecological restoration, water governance, and sustainable tourism. The event will also incorporate the 6th Meeting of Environmental Authorities, the 3rd Somos Sostenibles Forum, and Vitritur 2025, a tourism fair showcasing Colombia‘s advancements in sustainable tourism.
Several nations will participate, with the United Kingdom serving as the guest country of honor. Delegations from countries such as Germany, South Korea, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, and Spain are also confirmed. These countries will share their experiences, technologies, and innovations related to environmental transformation.
Ovidio Claros, Executive President of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the summit’s significance as a key platform for collaboration between businesses, governments, and civil society. He stressed the importance of addressing global challenges through cooperative efforts and learning opportunities.
Beyond the discussions and presentations, the summit will include various other activities. These will include multi-sector business meetings, a sustainable technologies fair, and cultural showcases highlighting circular fashion, sustainable coffee, gastronomy, handicrafts, and nature tourism. The goal is to demonstrate how local communities are innovating to promote inclusive and resilient development.
The summit is expected to solidify Bogotá‘s position as a leading international hub for sustainability initiatives and contribute to Latin America‘s role in shaping the global climate agenda.
