Orbital lands €50 million to expand real estate legal AI
Orbital, a London-based LegalTech company building an AI platform for real estate law, has raised a €50 million ($60 million) Series B funding round to accelerate growth in the US and UK and to push wider adoption across the real estate transaction ecosystem.
The round was led by Brighton Park Capital and included new backers such as REV (the venture capital arm of RELX), The LegalTech Fund, Moderne Ventures, and Grosvenor Group. Existing investors JLL Spark, Outward, and Seedcamp also participated.
Why investors are leaning into domain-specific LegalTech AI
Legal AI has attracted steady capital through 2025 and into early 2026, with most rounds concentrated at the seed and early stages and a smaller number of larger growth financings. Against that backdrop, Orbital’s Series B stands out as one of the more sizable growth-stage raises in European LegalTech during the period, signalling rising investor appetite for specialised, domain-focused platforms rather than general-purpose tools.
Recent examples across Europe underscore the breadth of activity. Sweden’s Legora raised a €70.6 million Series B to scale a collaborative AI platform for law firms and in-house legal teams. Earlier-stage rounds have included Switzerland-based Ex Nunc Intelligence (€1.8 million pre-seed), Italy’s Lexroom (€16.2 million Series A), Amsterdam-based Saga (€1.5 million seed), Denmark’s Pandektes (€2.9 million seed), and Madrid-based iPNOTE (€857,000 seed). Collectively, those disclosed rounds total roughly €94 million, excluding Orbital.
Will Pearce: Real estate legal work is still “slow, fragmented and largely manual”
Will Pearce, CEO and co-founder of Orbital, framed the company’s mission around the scale of the market and the persistence of manual processes.
“Real estate is, by far, the world’s largest asset class. Yet the legal work that underpins it remains slow, fragmented and largely manual: opaque work that in many cases hasn’t meaningfully changed since the 19th century,” Pearce said. “Orbital is changing that with AI purpose-built for real estate, making transactions more transparent and reliable for all parties.”
Pearce added that the new funding brings in backers who “understand these challenges firsthand” and will support accelerated US expansion and product development across the full real estate transaction lifecycle.
What Orbital does, and who uses it
Founded in 2018 and co-founded by Will Pearce and Ed Boulle, Orbital develops AI software designed specifically for real estate legal workflows. The company says it supports 200,000 residential and commercial transactions annually for more than 5,000 property professionals, spanning law firms, in-house legal teams, developers, title companies, and REITs.
In total, Orbital has raised €63 million ($75 million) to date. It counts customers across the real estate ecosystem, including AM Law 100 and Magic Circle law firms, as well as multinational corporates.
Board seat and growth plans: deeper US push after New York launch
Brighton Park Capital Partner Kevin Magan will join the company’s board as part of the financing. He described real estate law as a large and complex market that has remained “dramatically under-automated,” positioning Orbital as a potential category-defining platform in legal automation.
“We recognised immediately that Orbital is targeting a critical gap in the legal AI sector,” Magan said, citing the company’s emphasis on accuracy, domain expertise, and workflow integration. He added that the firm is backing Orbital as it expands more aggressively in the US.
Orbital opened a New York office in 2025 and now plans to double headcount and establish additional US hubs to support customer growth.
Product focus: automating document-heavy review with mapping and data
The company argues that real estate legal work is materially underserved by broader LegalTech AI offerings, largely because transactions rely on large volumes of interdependent records and jurisdiction-specific documentation. Orbital says its platform combines AI optimised for real estate law with spatial visualisation, mapping, and real estate data to reduce manual review and help transactions progress faster.
According to the company, the technology is aimed at replacing document-heavy review across hundreds of connected records, maps, and historic deeds—some dating back decades or centuries—while laying the groundwork for more automated, AI-driven processes over time.
What the new funding is for
Orbital said the Series B will be used to expand across the broader real estate ecosystem and to increase product investment toward a single, secure workspace for real estate legal work across the full lifecycle of transactions. The company’s strategy reflects a wider shift in LegalTech: moving from point solutions toward platforms embedded into day-to-day workflows, with greater emphasis on reliability, security, and domain-specific performance.
Background: earlier rounds under the name Orbital Witness
The company was previously known as Orbital Witness. It raised a €3.64 million seed round in 2020 to build AI for property due diligence, followed by an €8.6 million Series A in 2023 focused on further automating document-heavy real estate legal workflows.
