Upcoming EU-Startups Summit in Malta
On May 7-8, Malta will host the much-anticipated EU-Startups Summit 2026, marking its 12th edition. This significant event is expected to attract approximately 2,500 participants, including ambitious founders, startup enthusiasts, corporate representatives, angel investors, venture capitalists, and media from various parts of Europe. The summit’s primary focus will be on startups aiming for global expansion, providing a robust platform for networking and collaboration.
Introducing the Future Unicorns Program
A highlight of the upcoming summit is the launch of the Future Unicorns program, which offers a unique exhibition opportunity for promising early-stage startups. This initiative will select up to 20 teams, providing them with a chance to present their innovative ideas to a targeted audience. The program includes a discounted startup pod package that features a branded area in the exhibition hall, two complimentary tickets for both days of the event, access to the summit’s networking app, and promotional visibility in the event booklet.
The aim of this initiative is to enhance visibility for early-stage teams, enabling them to connect with potential investors, forge partnerships, and engage with key players within the startup ecosystem. This opportunity is designed to be cost-effective, making it accessible for startups that may not have extensive resources.
Networking and Learning Opportunities
The EU-Startups Summit 2026 will offer a plethora of networking opportunities over the course of two days. Participants can engage in targeted networking sessions designed to facilitate valuable connections and attend the “Investors on Stage” segment, where leading investors will share insights about their firms and investment areas. Additionally, the event will feature a matchmaking app that simplifies direct messaging, lead capturing, and scheduling meetings, enhancing the networking experience.
The agenda is packed with activities including fireside chats with successful founders, keynote speeches, and a pitch competition highlighting some of Europe’s most innovative early-stage startups. Furthermore, there will be practical sessions aimed at equipping early-stage founders with the skills necessary to navigate growth challenges, craft effective pitches, and explore international market expansion.
Eligibility and Application Process
Startups eager to participate in the Future Unicorns program must meet specific criteria: they should be less than 1.5 years old, consist of a maximum of five team members, have not received prior funding, and should not be a product line or spin-off of an existing company. Applications are currently open, and interested startups can apply until January 17. Following the submission period, applications will be evaluated, and selected teams will be notified by the end of January.
The EU-Startups Summit 2026 in Malta promises to be an invaluable opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs looking to kickstart their journeys and for investors seeking innovative ventures. Even if a startup does not qualify for the Future Unicorns program, there are options to secure a regular exhibition booth at the summit, ensuring participation at this pivotal event for the startup community. The summit aims to spotlight the next wave of entrepreneurial talent and innovation within Europe.
