dynaCERT Inc., a Canadian company renowned for its innovative fuel-saving technologies, has achieved a significant milestone by introducing its revolutionary HydraGEN™ technology at the Port of Rochefort–Tonnay-Charente in France. This deployment marks the first commercial port installation of its kind in the country, showcasing dynaCERT’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability within the maritime sector. The installation, which took place in collaboration with IPMD, dynaCERT’s trusted distribution partner in France and the Benelux region, involved equipping all five cranes at the port with HydraGEN™ technology, following initial successful trials of a prototype earlier this year.

The HydraGEN™ technology operates by using electrolysis to produce hydrogen and oxygen from distilled water, which is then introduced into the air intake of diesel engines. This process optimizes combustion and leads to substantial reductions in harmful emissions. Data collected from the Port of Rochefort indicated that the technology could decrease CO₂ emissions, along with other pollutants like carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, by as much as 45%. As Gérard Pons, the President of the Rochefort-Tonnay-Charente Port of Commerce Syndicat Mixte, remarked, the decision to implement this technology not only aids in minimizing the ecological footprint but also enhances the port’s overall competitiveness and sustainability.

The global port equipment market is projected to witness significant growth, expanding from approximately USD 19.72 billion in 2024 to USD 28.3 billion by 2032, with an annual growth rate of 4.5%. Currently, around 64% of port equipment still relies on diesel fuel, which presents a substantial opportunity for emission-reducing technologies like HydraGEN™. Ports are major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, with some regions, such as Germany, accounting for millions of tons of CO₂ emissions annually.
