The United States District Court for the District of Kansas has approved a proposed settlement in a class action lawsuit against Compass Minerals International Inc. (NYSE: CMP), according to an announcement from The Rosen Law Firm, P.A.

The settlement, totaling $4.9 million, resolves claims brought by plaintiffs John Valentine and Paul O’Renick on behalf of purchasers of Compass Minerals securities. The case, filed in the District of Kansas under case number 24-cv-02165, alleged violations related to the company’s securities.

A hearing is scheduled for November 18, 2025, before Chief United States District Judge Eric F. Melgren in Kansas City, Kansas. The court will determine if the settlement is fair, reasonable, and adequate for those involved. The court will also review the proposed plan for distributing the settlement funds and the request from lead counsel for attorney fees, which are capped at one-third of the settlement amount plus interest, and reimbursement of expenses. Finally, the court will decide whether to dismiss the case with prejudice.

The proposed settlement covers individuals who purchased Compass Minerals securities—common stock, call options, or put options—between February 8, 2023, and March 26, 2024. These individuals may be eligible to receive compensation as part of the settlement.

Those who believe they are part of the class action must submit a claim form by October 7, 2025, to be eligible for compensation from the settlement fund. Individuals who wish to opt out of the settlement must notify the claims administrator by the same date. Objections to the settlement, the distribution plan, or the attorney fee request must be submitted to the court and counsel by October 21, 2025.

The Claims Administrator, Strategic Claims Services, has provided contact information for claimants. Further information and claim forms are available through their website and by mail. The Rosen Law Firm, lead counsel in the case, also provided contact information should claimants have questions regarding the settlement. The firm stressed that claimants should not contact the court directly. The settlement is subject to final court approval.
