Johnny Neill, the creator of Whitley Neill gin, has joined V Spirits Company as portfolio director, dedicating his expertise exclusively to the brand’s future.
Neill Moves Away from Previous Brands
Johnny Neill, an eighth-generation distiller, established Whitley Neill in 2005, a gin brand that later became part of Halewood Artisanal Spirits. Over the years, he also developed Gelston’s Irish Whiskey and the gin label Berkshire Botanical. Neill has now stepped down from any involvement with these brands and has shifted his full attention to V Spirits Company.
In his new capacity, Neill will be responsible for advancing new product lines, supporting targeted acquisitions, and shaping the company’s long-term strategies in both the UK and international markets.
A Shared Approach with the Founders
Commenting on his appointment, Neill described the move as joining a company at a dynamic stage in its growth. He pointed to the entrepreneurial record of Carl and Nicole Churchill, saying their business-building philosophy resonates with his own background in brand creation and consumer engagement. Neill also emphasized that sustainability is a principle they share, and he aims to help create innovative brands that are both responsible and commercially viable.
Founders Welcome Industry Experience
Carl and Nicole Churchill, co-founders of V Spirits, highlighted the importance of having Neill on board. They noted that his background in creating well-known spirits and driving market expansion will strengthen the company’s ambitions. According to them, his arrival is a clear indicator of V Spirits’ plan to grow into a portfolio of premium brands built on sustainability and market relevance.
V Spirits’ Current Portfolio and Plans
Headquartered in Hampshire, V Spirits currently produces V Rum, which has recently entered the ready-to-drink segment. Its parent company, V IP Brands, has openly expressed interest in acquiring established spirits producers and distilleries. Neill’s leadership is expected to support these acquisition goals and drive the next phase of growth for the business.
