n8n Achieves Major Milestone with SAP Investment
n8n, a Berlin-based workflow automation startup, has successfully doubled its valuation to $5.2 billion following a strategic investment from SAP. Previously valued at $2.5 billion last October, this new investment marks a significant achievement for the company.
Partnership Details
In conjunction with the investment, n8n and SAP have entered into a multi-year commercial agreement. This partnership will see n8n’s innovative workflow automation platform integrated into Joule Studio, SAP’s agent-building environment within its Business AI Platform. The integration aims to streamline the automation of workflows across various SAP systems and external software tools, all through a single, user-friendly interface.
Expanding Enterprise Capabilities
Founded in 2019 by Jan Oberhauser, n8n initially focused on providing developers with an open-source platform that emphasizes flexibility and control over automation infrastructure. The company has since evolved to cater to enterprises, boasting over 1,400 customers and 1.7 million monthly active developers globally.
“For n8n, securing SAP as a strategic investor marks a pivotal moment,” said Oberhauser. He emphasized that the partnership reflects confidence in n8n’s platform and its vision to enhance automation capabilities for organizations.
Competitive Edge and Compliance Focus
Unlike traditional workflow tools like UiPath and Zapier, n8n stands out by supporting multi-agent orchestration. This feature enables businesses to identify events, coordinate decisions, and trigger actions within an auditable environment. The platform also provides over 1,000 integrations across various software platforms, ensuring companies can seamlessly connect their SAP systems with a broader technology stack.
Moreover, n8n places a strong emphasis on compliance and data sovereignty, allowing enterprises to maintain control over their data while adhering to regulations such as GDPR. This commitment makes the platform particularly appealing to businesses in regulated industries.
The Road Ahead
With SAP’s integration, n8n aims to enhance its adoption among enterprise customers utilizing SAP infrastructure, further solidifying its position in the rapidly growing enterprise automation market. As Christian Klein, CEO of SAP SE, noted, “By integrating n8n into Joule Studio, we’re accelerating SAP’s ability to help customers design, connect, and scale agentic AI across their core business processes.”
