Ethos Secures $22.75M Funding to Revolutionize Talent Hiring

Ethos Revolutionizes Hiring with AI

In a significant move for the recruitment landscape, London-based Ethos has secured $22.75 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, alongside participation from General Catalyst. Founded in 2023 by former Google DeepMind and McKinsey employees James Lo and Daniel J. Mankowitz, Ethos aims to redefine how companies connect with talent, moving beyond traditional CVs to a more dynamic AI-driven approach.

Transforming Talent Acquisition

Ethos utilizes advanced AI technologies to conduct interviews and assess candidates’ work, including academic papers and code, to create comprehensive profiles showcasing their skills. This platform not only connects experts with opportunities in fields such as consulting, market research, and AI data labeling but also aims to illuminate potential job paths that candidates may not have previously considered.

According to CEO James Lo, “A CV is a poor proxy for what someone is truly capable of. Ethos helps people see the full shape of their expertise in an AI-transformed economy.” The company addresses the growing concern of fake or AI-generated resumes, which complicate the hiring process for employers seeking genuine talent.

Impact on the Labor Market

As the global labor market evolves rapidly, Ethos stands out by actively identifying opportunities for experts, rather than relying solely on self-reported credentials. This proactive approach is crucial in a landscape where job applications are often diluted by numerous similar profiles. More than 5,000 professionals across diverse fields join Ethos weekly, with top earners reportedly making over £7,000 per month.

“Knowledge is our most precious resource, yet for too long the expertise inside people’s heads has been invisible to the economy,” said Jeannette zu Fürstenberg, president of General Catalyst. The newly acquired funding will enable Ethos to enhance its AI capabilities, expand its expert network, and forge stronger partnerships with AI labs and business clients.

As competition in the expert-matching sector intensifies, Ethos’s innovative approach positions it uniquely against established players like GLG and Toptal, aiming to reshape the future of talent acquisition in the age of AI.
